I was born and spent most of my years in Connecticut, where my passion for food and cooking began, sitting in the kitchen with my aunts and seeing their love of cooking first-hand. These wise and well-versed ladies spent years showing me some of the techniques and tricks they had learned from their parents who had emigrated to the US back in the 1920s to open up their own restaurant.
My own mom usually worked 2 and 3 jobs to make ends meet, so as a kid when I wasn’t with my family, it was either learn how to cook or learn to really like microwave pizza. Microwave pizza, even when you’re young, gets a little old after a while.
These days you can find me in Colorado Springs, CO where I live mostly by myself, and other times making a mess of my partner’s kitchen. Engineer by day, homecook by night, photographer when I can.
This blog is the start of documenting some of my old family recipes and techniques, as it’s my plan to eventually incorporate this into some form of cookbook.
